Brown City, Mich. (January 16, 2025) – Llink Technologies has once again been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the impactful growth of its headlight remanufacturing program. On January 14, 2025, Llink was announced as a winner of Phase 2 of the prestigious Re-X Before Recycling Prize, underscoring the company's commitment to sustainable innovation and circular economy practices.
Phase 2 of the competition, launched by the DOE’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO), highlights advancements in creating integrated circular supply networks from waste streams, contributing to an environmentally sustainable economy. Out of more than 80 competitors, Llink secured one of ten winning spots by demonstrating significant progress and scaling efforts in their remanufacturing program.
Since winning Phase 1 of the competition, Llink has been rapidly expanding the program to include additional automotive lighting assemblies, such as taillights, which hold substantial market potential. The company is also in the process of establishing a global footprint, enabling international Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to participate in the world’s first circular supply chain for automotive lighting. This expansion is poised to bring both environmental and economic benefits to new industries worldwide.
The recognition in Phase 2 also celebrates Llink's advancements in reducing OEM core processing costs, increasing core eligibility, and protecting patented lighting designs from aftermarket competitors. A key achievement in these efforts is the development of a large-scale automotive lighting assembly core return processing service, which is set to launch in 2025.
As part of its Phase 2 award, Llink Technologies has received $150,000 in cash and $100,000 in technical analysis support from a national laboratory to further accelerate the growth of the world’s only automotive lighting remanufacturing program.
Jeff Goulet, CEO of Llink Technologies, stated, “We are incredibly proud to be recognized by the Department of Energy for the continued success and growth of our remanufacturing program. This achievement not only validates the hard work and innovation of our team, but it also strengthens our commitment to driving sustainable practices in the automotive industry. The support we’ve received through Phase 2 of the Re-X Before Recycling Prize will enable us to further expand our circular supply chain and continue delivering impactful solutions that benefit both the environment and our industry partners.”
